Urbano Cairo hopes to see Torino gradually improve from last season’s performance, as he promises January investment.
The Granata have struggled in the early parts of the League season to replicate late form from last term that saw them finish seventh in the table.
“It is right that Torino supporters have ambitious goals. We have started very well in the Europa League, even if in the League we could have done better,” Cairo has told Tuttosport.

The Granata have struggled in the early parts of the League season to replicate late form from last term that saw them finish seventh in the table.
“It is right that Torino supporters have ambitious goals. We have started very well in the Europa League, even if in the League we could have done better,” Cairo has told Tuttosport.
“Our start to this season has been quite challenging, with Inter, Samp who are doing well, Cagliari, Verona, Fiorentina and Napoli.
“And added to this we are playing three times a week. We have begun very well in the Europa League, so let’s give things a little more time.
“Let’s not forget that after six games last season Ciro Immobile had not yet scored a goal. I say there are reasons to be optimistic about our growth.
“I will not talk about results, objectives and dreams, not even under torture, purely out of superstition.
“It is normal that after a seventh place finish to do better will not be easy, because the jump made was remarkable, as we had come from a 16th place before.
“But I say that we should aim to gradually climb up with planning focusing on young and interesting players that over time can give much satisfaction to Torino.”
Immobile and Alessio Cerci were sold for big money in the summer and replacements Amauri and Fabio Quagliarella have so far failed to replicate their presence in front of goal.
“We still have money to spend, certainly there will be investment in January – a club like ours should move ahead and secure youngsters of interest before others take them.”
