Torino President Urbano Cairo said it’s ‘very important’ his players show they ‘are men’ and that the ones who prefer to leave, ‘can go’.
The Toro patron didn’t hold back in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport and asked his players ‘to show’ he has the same players who lifted the club to the top half of the table only a few years ago.
Torino are currently 18th in Serie A and have only picked up two points from their last five games, leaving them with six points in 12 games under Marco Giampaolo.

“I believe that, up to now, we have talked too much,” Cairo told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “What matters is what happens on the pitch.
“The desire that the players must show. That they are still the ones we knew one and a half years ago.
“In 2019, this team, which hasn’t changed since then, did certain feats and got certain results to obtain a seventh place and even a fourth place in the second round of the 2018-19 season.
“The team is the same, because practically all of them have been confirmed.”
Cairo added: “I think it’s essential that the players show self-love. It’s important that they want to prove that they are the same players of a year ago.
“Then, if someone, at the end of the championship or even in January, prefers to leave, I have no problems.
“All those who have this type of need can go. Just tell me and we will please them. But today it’s very important that the players are men.
“They must show the attributes that are important to have in difficult times.”
