Cagliari have sacked Walter Mazzarri and could replace him with Primavera coach Alessandro Agostini, reports in Italy claim.

Sky Sport, La Gazzetta dello Sport and the main Italian outlets claim that today’s training session has been cancelled and that Mazzarri will no longer be the Sardinian’s coach. Primavera boss Agostini is the leading candidate to replace him in the last three games of the season.

Mazzarri had been appointed in September to replace Leonardo Semplici.

The Sardinians lost four of the last five Serie A games, including the most recent one on Saturday, at home against Hellas Verona.

They are just three points above the relegation zone, but 18th-placed Salernitana have two games in hand.
