Cagliari have made the signing of 21-year-old Milan striker Lorenzo Colombo their priority before the end of the summer transfer window according to recent reports from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The highly-rated youngster has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan deals away from San Siro, joining Cremonese in Serie B in 2020-21, SPAL for 2021-22 and Lecce in Serie A for the most recent campaign.

While with Lecce, Colombo registered five goals from 33 league appearances during his first full season playing regularly in the top flight.

Di Marzio suggests that Cagliari also have other options to bring in up front, namely Bruno Petkovic from Dinamo Zagreb, or Jean-Pierre Nsame of Young Boys, who turned out for Venezia on loan in 2022, although both players are considered to be ‘second choices’.

Cagliari will get their Serie A campaign underway on Monday, August 21 with an away trip to face Ivan Juric’s Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
