Catania Coach Rolando Maran says this weekend’s crunch relegation battle with Cagliari will be important but not decisive.

The Elefanti are second from bottom of the Serie A table, two points adrift of safety, and games are beginning to run out.

“We need to shake off any anxiety and fear we may have playing at home and we must play well,” Maran told journalists at his pre-match Press conference.

“Our impact on the game must be strong and correct.

“The game at Cagliari earlier this season brings back bad memories, it still hurts when I look back at it.

“That too should give us extra motivation for this match.

“The team has been showing a great desire to play well in the game.

“Every game at the moment seems like a battle for survival and a key game but even afterwards all our rivals are still in there fighting.

“This is still a very important game though, we’re back at home and we need to get back to collecting points.”
