Thiago Ribeiro does not see Cagliari as in danger of relegation, even as recent results have presented the possibility.

The Sardinians go into Friday night’s clash with in-form Napoli without a win in three, with successive defeats to relegation candidates Lecce and Siena pulling the Rossoblu down to 15th in the table, six points above the drop-zone.

The Sardinians go into Friday night’s clash with in-form Napoli without a win in three, with successive defeats to relegation candidates Lecce and Siena pulling the Rossoblu down to 15th in the table, six points above the drop-zone.

However, striker Ribeiro suggests the talk of Cagliari dropping down is premature.

“The game against Siena made us sad, but we are not thinking about the relegation zone which has approached us,” he told L’Unione Sarda.

“Had we won then we would not be talking about this but of greater things. This is a professional club and we know what to expect after every game.

“For the misfortunes against Lecce, we were unable to express our best football, it can happen. That’s why there is no alarm and we approach the challenge with Napoli for the right reasons.”

The Brazilian, who has scored four goals from 23 appearances this term, even sees belief enough to take a result away from the San Paolo this Friday evening.

“We know the strength of Napoli, but we have a lot of quality and we can make it difficult for our opponents.

“It is true that they will be distracted by the challenge with Chelsea, but do not forget that they also want to do well in the League and will not disregard anything.”
