“After one season in Rossoblu, Bruno Alves leaves Cagliari to face a new professional challenge,” a statement on the club’s official website reads.
“Having arrived in Sardinia with the title of European champion, Alves immediately put himself at the disposal of his teammates and Coach with great humility.
“He gave the team experience, physicality and charisma, transmitting a will to win and competitive spirit to the group. An example for the youngsters both on and off the pitch.
“His 36 appearances and one goal were a major contribution in achieving safety.
“The club thanks Alves for what he did at Cagliari, and now wishes him the greatest satisfaction int he continuation of his career.
“Good luck, Bruno!”
Alves is set to join up with compatriot Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox, as Rangers look to reassert themselves in the Scottish Premiership, having finished 39 points behind city rivals Celtic this season.
