Cagliari have confirmed that this weekend’s fixture with Catania has been put back 24 hours so as to be played in Trieste.
With permission from the League, the Sardinian side moved their last home fixture with Inter to Triestina’s Stadio Nereo Rocco, as a result of an ongoing dispute with their local city authorities over the upkeep and future of their home, the Stadio Sant’Elia.

With permission from the League, the Sardinian side moved their last home fixture with Inter to Triestina’s Stadio Nereo Rocco, as a result of an ongoing dispute with their local city authorities over the upkeep and future of their home, the Stadio Sant’Elia.
In a statement released on their official website on Tuesday afternoon, the Isolani have confirmed that they will again be taking the 600-mile journey across the country for their next home game, Week 33’s match with Catania.
Because Triestina, current occupants of the Nereo Rocco, are playing at home the same weekend, the Rossoblu have seen their game with Vincenzo Montella’s side pushed back to the Monday evening, for a 7.45pm UK time kick off.
The move is a surprise to local Press, who earlier in the day speculated that Massimo Cellino was in favour of an immediate return to the club’s home ground, in light of the financial expense in travelling and staying in Trieste and having reportedly asked authorities about again reopening the Sant’Elia to an expanded capacity.
Currently, two sides of the stadium are closed on safety protocol, pulling the official capacity of the stadium below Serie A’s minimum capacity allowance.
