Nicolas Burdisso prepares for Genoa-Cagliari and welcomes Giovanni Simeone: 'He's hungry for results like his father'.
The two teams kick off their Serie A season this Sunday, with the former Roma and Inter defender very much a lynchpin of the Grifone squad.
“Coach Ivan Juric brought some new things, like his drive and his intensity, but the spirit remains that of Genoa,” Burdisso told Sky Sports Italia. “And this is the most important thing, going ahead one Sunday at a time and having fun on the pitch.”

All eyes will be on Simeone, as his father Diego is currently one of the most admired coaches in Europe.
“I explained to him what it means to play in this environment. Many Argentinians did well and will continue to do well here.
“Giovanni has the same drive and the same hunger as his father, which is what matters most. All players that come here must have that.
“[Lucas] Ocampos was a smart move, but we mustn't forget that we kept our most important players, like [Leonardo] Pavoletti, [Tomas] Rincon and [Mattia] Perin, who are essential for us. Above all else, we have a team that knows what it wants to do in this championship.”
