The 40-year-old was sent off for his protests and Cristiano Ronaldo converted the penalty to eliminate the Bianconeri 4-3 on aggregate.
Buffon continued his criticism of Oliver after the match, stating that he didn’t have the experience or temperament to referee such a game.
UEFA has taken a dim view of his comments, charging Buffon and Juventus with breaching Article 15 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations with regard to his red card.
In addition, Buffon has been charged under Article 11, which relates to “general principles of conduct”.
The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 31 May.
