Steve Bruce still hopes to sign Valentino Lazaro from Inter after the defender’s agent claimed he also has other options.
After the arrival of Ashley Young and Victor Moses on his way from Chelsea, Lazaro could already be heading for the exit door this winter.
The 23-year-old has not been able to establish himself under Antonio Conte and has played six times in Serie A since his €22.4m move form Hertha Berlin last summer.

Newcastle have met with the player’s representatives and Bruce said he hopes they will be able to “develop” a deal with the Nerazzurri.
“It’s fairly common knowledge now. That his agent was at the St James’ Park during the weekend,” Bruce said at a press conference. “We hope that we can develop it.
“Unfortunately, when it gets out like it does it adds to the competition and we’ll see. We’ll see what the next 24 to 48 hours will bring.”
The defensive duo Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett are out injured, and Bruce added that they are looking to bring in a short-term solution.
“We have the funds available and we are active at this moment,” he added. “With what’s happened, we’re short in that area and we have to look if we’re able to do anything in the short term.”
