Milan’s defeat to Roma on Saturday showed ‘the team isn’t ready for the Coppa Italia final’, says Cristian Brocchi.
The Rossoneri were comfortably beaten 3-1 at home in their final Serie A game of the season, a result that reportedly sparked an outraged response from the Coach.
The Coppa Italia final against Juventus is on Saturday and provides Milan’s last chance of securing European football for next season, but Brocchi revealed concerns with what he saw.
“We’ve been studying Juve tactically since I arrived,” he said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s very nice to think I could affect the game, studying the very few weaknesses, seeing where to strike. But it’s fundamental that every player has venom inside themselves.
“I don’t accept the idea that those who haven’t won anything don’t have venom. The disappointment of the Roma game was in realising that the team wasn’t ready for the final. Now I have clear ideas about who can’t offer me anything.
“I don’t want to give excuses to the team. So if we were to play the final like we did last Saturday, I would run far away. Sometimes you must be tough with people, and Sunday was one of those times.
“The players have had a different approach in the last few days even in the way they look, as if they’re preparing for an important match inside themselves.
“A Coppa win wouldn’t change the season, otherwise we run the risk of fooling ourselves. The season will remain negative.”
