Former Empoli, Parma, Palermo and Lazio midfielder Mark Bresciano has been inducted into the Australian football Hall of Fame.

The 38-year-old was born in Melbourne but his father Prospero was born near Naples and Mark is named after his Italian grandfather, Marco.

His move to Parma came about thanks to his Italian passport, and the €7m fee was a record for an Australian player at the time.

Bresciano played in three World Cups for the Socceroos, winning 84 caps over the course of his career, and has now been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
