Borja Valero believes Inter can beat Barcelona tomorrow night – “if not we wouldn’t play the match”.

The Nerazzurri would take a huge step toward qualification for the Last 16 if they win tomorrow night, as they’d have at least a five point lead over Tottenham Hotspur with two games to play.

However, Barça will win the group if they triumph at San Siro, and Lionel Messi may well return.

“I think we have to believe in our strength,” Borja Valero said in the pre-match Press conference.

However, Barça will win the group if they triumph at San Siro, and Lionel Messi may well return.

“I think we have to believe in our strength,” Borja Valero said in the pre-match Press conference.

“Barça condition the game and it’s hard to play matches like this, we try to control the ball in the league but it’ll be different here. We need to be aware of that and play on it.

“I think we can beat them, if not we wouldn’t play the match. We need to have the right confidence and be aware that we can hurt them.

“Barcelona have this ball playing style in their DNA, it’s difficult to press them and they press very well.

“It’s not a coincidence that they always put Spanish clubs in difficulty, but by the same token we’ve seen that they’re beatable and we need to find the way to do it.

“Barcelona are favourites, we’re in the Champions League after many years of absence. But we know what we have to do and what we can achieve.

“We know their strength and that they’re never afraid, but we have confidence in ourselves and we’ve shown that. Let’s see what happens.”

The midfielder was also asked if Messi playing or not will make a difference.

“Of course there’ll be a difference. He’s one of the best players in the world, if not the best. We’ve prepared for both scenarios, and what we need to do in either case.”
