“It’s a weight, but also the dream of any child to be the captain of your country,” Bonucci told Rai Sport.
“It’s up to me to prove I am up to the task, so as I did with Milan, I’ll try to set the example for all the fans, the younger players and those who aspire to this shirt.”
This is Bonucci’s 78th senior cap for Italy, putting him on a par with Gaetano Scirea and Alessandro Nesta.
It is the debut match under new Coach Roberto Mancini.
