Milan’s new Chinese owners have given the all-clear for a Giacomo Bonaventura contract extension, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The club is in the process of a takeover bid, which in theory should be completed by March 2017.

Until then, all contracts and transfers have to be agreed by both the Chinese group and current President Silvio Berlusconi.

There had been doubt as to whether the new patrons wanted to extend Bonaventura’s contract, as terms had already been agreed some time ago.

Bonaventura will sign a new contract to June 2020, earning €2m per year as opposed to his current €1.5m wage.

However, the Chinese investors are still refusing to extend Gabriel Paletta’s current deal.
