Giacomo Bonaventura has signed a contract extension with Atalanta, the player’s agent has confirmed.

Speaking with TMW on Thursday, Giocondo Martorelli has revealed that the player has been rewarded for his efforts this season.

“He had a contract until June 2016, but we have mutually agreed with Atalanta to renew that until 2017 with a few modifications,” Martorelli noted.

The left-sided midfielder has caught the attention of a number of clubs this season and a transfer could still take place despite his new Bergamo terms.

“If a big club made an offer then it will be discussed with Atalanta,” the representative continued. “Atalanta want the best for him because of all that he has given the club.”

There is growing speculation that the uncapped 23-year-old could be taken to Brazil this summer for the Confederations Cup.

“That would be stupendous, he would have achieved a personal ambition at the end of a positive season,” Martorelli stated.

“Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is always very alert to players who are growing and I wouldn’t be surprised by his inclusion.”
