He had already been on the verge of a move to Napoli in January for €25m, but the player turned it down, fearing he would not get regular playing time.

The two clubs met again and agreed the same fee, but this time it seems as if Verdi has given the all-clear, despite continued interest from Inter.

“From what I know, his agent has said yes to the transfer,” Gazzoni Frascara told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Verdi might not be world class, but he is a very good player and can give Napoli a hand. I really wasn’t expecting them to hire Carlo Ancelotti, but it was a great coup from President Aurelio De Laurentiis.”

A five-year contract with option for a sixth season should be signed over the next few days.
