Serie A new boys Bologna’s season got off to a bad start, as they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Pavia.

The Rossoblu went into the match as favourites, holding home advantage over the Serie B side, who were in the Lega Pro last season.

New signings Matteo Brighi and Franco Brienza made their competitive debuts for Delio Rossi’s side, with goalkeeper Antonio Mirante also making his first start.
