Djamel Mesbah insists that Milan teammate Kevin Prince Boateng should not have been dismissed against Udinese. “It’s a scandal!”

The Ghanaian was sent off with eight minutes left for two bookable offences after his clash with Roberto Pereyra.

“The dismissal of Boateng was scandalous,” the defender told Milan Channel after the 2-1 loss at the Stadio Friuli.

“I think that the referee knows that he got that one wrong. I was there and it was a normal tackle from Boateng – it wasn’t a sending off.”

The Diavolo’s poor start to the season continued yesterday given that they have now lost three of their first four League games.

“The performance was good, but there’s a lot to do yet,” he stated of a game which also saw Cristian Zapata dismissed.

“But we should focus on the positives, we fought hard. We know that we have to do more but we’ll do that on Wednesday against Cagliari.

“We really need to win because the points lost will start to add up. We are disappointed, but we are all united and all the players are with the Coach.

“Now we have to rest and build ourselves up to win in midweek.”
