The Rossoneri emerged 2-0 winners with Carlos Bacca and Boateng, becoming the first side all season to keep a clean sheet against the Viola.

There had been reports Sinisa Mihajlovic would be sacked if he didn’t win this evening.

“We wanted to win and we did it, so we are very happy. It wasn’t easy to beat Fiorentina. This is a victory for Mihajlovic and all the Milanisti.”

Boateng went to Schalke 04 in 2013, but returned as a free agent this winter.

“I am here to work and I want to do well. I thank the Coach and the President. This goal is important for me, as I did suffer last summer.

“This was a perfect day. There’s nothing better than scoring at San Siro.”
