Lazio captain Lucas Biglia says the second leg against Galatasaray will be ‘the most important match of the season’.

The Biancocelesti put themselves in a good position after securing a 1-1 draw in Istanbul last Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie.

Argentina international Biglia is targeting a ‘better performance’ at the Stadio Olimpico and revealed that the capital club are still targeting a top five Serie A finish.

“It’s the most important match of the season,” Biglia said to LaLazioSiamoNoi.

“We’ll give our best to obtain qualification – our objective is to give a better performance than in the first leg.

“We’re going through one of our worst moments in the league, but our hope is still to get a European place. Mathematically it’s still possible.

“But Thursday’s game will be the most important of the season.

“Sneijder is a great player who has played with the most important European clubs like Real Madrid.

“Facing someone of this level can only be a further stimulus for us. Our greatest desire is to get through the round.

“The first leg was a good match. I must say that it’s much nicer to see a stadium so full and with so much enthusiasm, but our fans are on the same level as Galatasaray’s.

“Many years ago I received an offer from Galatasaray, but then the negotiation didn’t end well. Not for economic reasons, I didn’t accept it for an argument of sporting priorities, I waited and chose to go to Lazio.

“A message for Gala? I hope that you’ll find the same friendly atmosphere at the Olimpico. It’ll be a great match.”
