A transfer market tug of war is taking place between Milan and Real Madrid, focused around promising trequartista Brahim Diaz.

The Spanish forward joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal with a €22m buy option attached back in July 2021, a deal that contains a €27m buy-back option in favour of Los Blancos, and plans are now being made for the summer.

Diaz has proven himself a useful and promising trequartista under Stefano Pioli, scoring five goals and providing three assists across 24 Serie A appearances this season.

As detailed by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, intermediary Edoardo Crnjar visited the Milan headquarters yesterday to meet with the club’s management and discuss a possible new deal for Diaz.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are seriously considering setting up talks with Real Madrid to negotiate a lower price for the 23-year-old Spaniard, who would be happy to stay with the club beyond this season.

Los Blancos, however, have been impressed with Diaz’s growth over the last two years and are debating bringing him back and tying him down to a new contract.
