Besiktas have opened talks with Stephan El Shaarawy in an attempt to convince the Roma winger to join the club in the coming days, reports detail.

The Turkish transfer window was originally set to close on February 8, a week later than Serie A, but FIFA granted a 10-day extension following the disastrous earthquakes that struck the country earlier this month.

Galatasaray managed to iron out a deal with Roma for Nicolo Zaniolo last week, signing the Italian forward on a four-and-a-half-year contract, and Besiktas picked up Omar Colley from Sampdoria on February 9, the latest transfers from Italy to Turkey.

As reported by Turkish outlet Sabah, Besiktas are keen to make a quick move for El Shaarawy and have opened talks with the Roma winger.

The 30-year-old would like to finish the season with the Giallorossi, when his contract will expire, but Besiktas are hoping to pick him up immediately before the transfer window closes on February 18.
