Federico Bernardeschi believes his versatility could be helpful for Italy after receiving his first call-up.

The Fiorentina youngster can play anywhere across the frontline, and was asked in a Press conference today whether his adaptability could see him struggle to hold down a specific role.

“Being able to play on the wing isn’t a condemnation,” Bernardeschi insisted.

“It’s one more weapon in my arsenal. I can adapt to a lot of formations, I think that’s an advantage, not a hindrance.

“When I was told I could play on the wing, it wasn’t easy. There are difficulties, but when you’re in the right frame of mind and willing to accept advice it becomes easier.

“I’m flexible, [CT Antonio] Conte will choose the best solution. So far we haven’t tried a specific role.”

Bernardeschi was also asked about the tragic events in Belgium this morning, where at least 26 people were killed in a series of bombings.

“These things shouldn’t happen and they hurt everyone. We all have to support the victims’ families and hope these things stop happening in future.

“Euro 2016 behind closed doors? We just have to go there and bring some happiness and smiles to people. Obviously it’s up to the proper authorities to decide, not us.

“If I get the call [to go to France] my family would be more pleased than worried. I’ll tell them I won’t be home for a month.”
