Barbara Berlusconi warned “Milan cannot afford to miss out on the Champions League again” and focuses on improving San Siro.
The daughter of President Silvio Berlusconi is joint-CEO with Adriano Galliani and had been in charge of plans for the new purpose-built stadium, an idea that was suddenly abandoned due to issues over land for the development.
“It was a huge disappointment for me, as I worked on this project for two years and it would’ve represented a big turning point,” she told Milan News.

“It was a dream and perhaps I pushed my ideas too fast. For various reasons, we changed strategy. Now we are in our old, beloved San Siro, an historic construction for the city of Milan.
“We can improve this structure, though we will need to invest a certain sum. It’s more difficult to restructure a stadium than to build a whole new one.
“At the moment we have an average of 31,000 fans per game, we hope to rise to 40,000 over the next four years, but it will only be possible if we work in a certain way.
“There’s a lot of work to be done with the local authorities to make the atmosphere more comfortable for fans and visiting supporters too.”
Meanwhile, Berlusconi and her father visited the training ground today and met with Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
“We are here to support the team. We cannot afford to miss out on Europe or the Champions League again.
“In the construction of a team it requires patience and time. I remain confident, there’s a good atmosphere within the side, I can see dedication, hard work and motivation.
“Of course, a negative result hurts every time, but we have faith.”
