Manuel Locatelli had accidentally turned into his own net when trying to clear a Tomas Rincon strike off the line, but Jeremie Boga scored a stunner before setting up Berardi.

“Everything was going against us lately, again we conceded an unlucky goal after a strong start. It wasn’t easy after three consecutive defeats, but we’re on the right track and proved we could turn it around,” Berardi told Sky Sport Italia.

“The coach told me not to let go, to stay in the game and try to bring home the result. It was tough against a Torino side in good shape, but we did really well. The lads deserve a pat on the back.

“I try to give my all in every game and I am happy with the victory more than the goal, because Sassuolo certainly deserved many, many more points than we have so far this season.

“After the heavy 3-0 defeat to Udinese, we really knuckled down in training all week and it meant a lot to us to win this game.”
