Sassuolo confirm they are willing to sell Domenico Berardi for ‘around €30m’ but warn clubs who want him must be ‘serious’ and act quickly.

Berardi has been linked with moves away from Sassuolo for several summers, but while general manager Giovanni Carnevali [pictured] made it clear he would not stand in the winger’s way, the Neroverdi equally did not need to sell.

“There’s no situation with him,” Carnevali told Corriere dello Sport.

Roma have probably talked to his representatives, but we’ve never received anything. We talked to them a little while back and informed them of our position.

“We’re not overly intent on depriving ourselves of Berardi because we’ve already sold Politano.

“If an offer came in, we’d have to evaluate it, but if for Politano we received €28m. Berardi isn’t worth any less, around €30m.

“Whoever has the money to spend will come forward. Right now, players in exchange don’t interest us as much.

“We’ve made other investments on young players, things have changed a bit. We’ve taken Odgaard from Inter and today we’ll finalise Magnani with Juventus.

“We don’t need any more players in exchange. Other young players don’t interest us, but we’re no less willing to listen to any offers.

“Gabbiadini? No, we’ve never contacted him. He doesn’t have the characteristics of Berardi, so we’d have to think about a different player.

“This is how it is every year: agents work in the interests of the players. If Berardi wants to go, we’ll try to make him happy, but there must be the conditions to do that.

“Roma? We have a very good relationship, and if there was any real interest on their part, we’d be ready to discuss it.

“Dragging it out doesn’t help anyone. We’re already in mid-July. With all due respect to the player and club, if there’s an intention to make an offer, it must be serious, interesting in a financial sense and arrive in the next few days.

“Furthermore, we have no need to sell Berardi. On the contrary, we’d like to see Domenico as Sassuolo’s ‘bandiera’, which is the will of [owner] Dr Squinzi.

“We hope he stays with us, we’ll see. He’s been behaving impeccably, like the great professional he is.

“He’s training very well. De Zerbi rates him very highly. He appreciates players with great qualities like [Berardi].”
