“We are preparing well for the game with Sampdoria, although at times I get angry because we don’t replicate what we do during the week in training,” Benitez told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Samp are playing good football, are physically strong and brimming with confidence. We will try to win in Genoa, obviously.”
The Partenopei have lost Lorenzo Insigne for five months, Michu for two, while Juan Camilo Zuniga’s recovery time remains a mystery.
“Dries Mertens trained with the team normally. Tomorrow we’ll see how he does, though I don’t know if he can start on Monday. Unfortunately Michu needed this operation to his ankle and we’ll wait to see how he is, but we are not talking about contracts.”
Napoli will move on the market in January to replace Insigne, having been linked with both Paris Saint-Germain star Lavezzi and Sampdoria’s Gabbiadini.
“I don’t talk about players in other teams, but Gabbiadini is certainly a good player. The fact he’s a good player is clear for all to see, but we are not talking about anything else,” continued Benitez.
“As for Lavezzi, he’s a fantastic guy and Napoli are still very fond of him.”
