According to Il Mattino, a proposed renewal for Benitez, whose current deal runs out next June, has been suspended for the time being and the Coach will have a meeting with De Laurentiis at Castel Volturno today before the President departs for the USA.

The relationship between Coach and President is seen as still strong, however, and the poor start to the season will reportedly not push De Laurentiis towards a sacking, nor Benitez towards a criticism of the decisions made in the summer transfer market.
