Rafa Benitez felt Napoli “played to win” against Inter, but has to wait for news on Gonzalo Higuain’s injury.

The Coach spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 0-0 draw at San Siro, which saw Gokhan Inler hit the woodwork.

“I think the team played to win, we had a lot of possession against a very strong side that has played only one game per week since the start of the season.
“We pushed hard and I think against them it was a good result, though we could also have won tonight.”

Higuain was stretchered off and is a doubt for next Saturday’s Coppa Italia Final against Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”9″>Fiorentina.

“Higuain has a trauma to the ankle, a bruise and we’ll have to see over the next few days. We still don’t know what the situation is.”

Benitez was asked about his tactical choices, using Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon together.

“We’ve moved these players around all season. In training this week I saw Mertens was really hungry to play and it was a shame to leave out Insigne or Callejon, so with them exchanging positions they could cause problems for Inter.

“We worked on the wingers pushing up to become forwards, but we were a little late to the ball on a few occasions. Some players were also a little too altruistic in scoring opportunities.”

This was remarkably Napoli’s first 0-0 in Serie A since last season.

“I always seek balance. If the team concedes, then we have to score more goals. I saw the team do well at both ends of the field tonight, but we couldn’t get the goal.”
