Rafa Benitez insists Napoli are “on the right track” ahead of their Europa League clash with Young Boys.

The Partenopei visit Berne on Thursday at 18.00 UK time (17.00 GMT).

“We have done some very good things since the start of the season, though looking at the statistics we could’ve done much better,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We are missing some points and need to be more gritty. I always thought we are on the right track, we just need to improve two or three little things.”

Gonzalo Higuain and Marek Hamsik scored in the Europa League victory over Slovan Bratislava, but are still without a goal in Serie A this term.

“It is important for me to talk about the squad and not two players. It can happen for a striker to score or not. Obviously it’s not normal for them both to be without goals so far, but I have faith in their quality.

“Considering all our commitments, every player in the squad is important and must give their all. It will be difficult tomorrow and my players will give 100 per cent.”

This is a special game for Swiss international Gokhan Inler, who will be playing on home turf.

“He is very reliable, a professional and an example for his teammates. He is also one of our captains,” noted Benitez.

“Playing on a synthetic pitch will be more difficult for us and that can be an advantage for Young Boys. We respect our opponents, so talking about expecting a victory here is not right.

“I will tell the team to be wary, as we don’t want a bad performance. If we were to win, then we could talk about qualification.

“It is an advantage for us that we have options in every role, so we can rotate the players regularly. Considering the system, they all know what to do in their positions. If we rotate, it is only because this team wants to win every game.”
