It has been said several times that Samir Nasri, his former teammate in France, has spoken to Arsene Wenger about bringing Benatia to the Emirates.

“I am happy at the Friuli and think only of Udinese,” he assured in today's Press conference.

“I signed a five-year contract and don't want to leave before that expires. I realised from the first day I arrived here that I had joined a great club.

“I have learned so much by training alongside teammates like Cristian Zapata and Andrea Coda. They are strong and expert defenders with over 150 Serie A appearances behind them. This team is very united, both on the field and off.”

Udinese are unbeaten in 13 games and have surged into the Champions League spots.

“We have many quality players, then I look at the fixture list and think we can achieve great things together.

“This weekend we face Lecce, so it will be important to make the most of the pace and quality of our front line.

“We haven't conceded in seven games and, if we managed to defend Samir Handanovic's net for another 90 minutes, I think our chances of victory would improve massively.”
