Andrea Belotti struggles with a ‘severely bruised’ fibula and has pulled out of the Italy squad, as Torino confirmed the forward has not suffered a fracture and should be back soon.

The Granata captain suffered the injury against Fiorentina in Serie A, but the club has confirmed Belotti has not fractured anything and will be able to use the international break for the required rehabilitation.

Belotti was subjected to instrumental tests after retuning from the Azzurri retreat, which confirmed the results of a ‘severe bruise’.

The 27-year-old has returned to Filadelfia for treatment, as the striker reported a fibula problem during the last match against Fiorentina, when he clashed with the Viola defender Martinez Quarta.

Torino feared they had lost their striker for a long time, but the tests are only showing a period of 20 days out.

“The clinical and instrumental tests which Andrea Belotti underwent – who returned yesterday from the retreat with the national team – confirmed the results of the severe bruise that occurred during the match against Fiorentina,” the club wrote in an official statement.

“The player has already started the therapeutic path of recovery. The prognosis will be defined according to the clinical evolution.”

The  player will be able to take advantage of the international break to get closer to full recovery, but coach Ivan Juric still has problems in attack ahead of the match against Salernitana.

Simone Zaza is out injured and Antonio Sanabria has travelled far for his international duties with Paraguay in South America.

  1. He hasent done much for for a while now
it’s his own fault he should’ve left his beloved Torino a few few yrs ago.
I admire his loyalty but not playing in european
competitions has drastically stunted his progression.
