Watford midfielder Valon Behrami is returning to Serie A and due in Italy for a medical with Udinese today.

The Swiss international’s current contract will expire at the end of the season, but he is cutting it short to join Udinese.

Both clubs are owned by the Pozzo family, so they regularly exchange players.

Behrami spent much of his career in Italy, joining Genoa in 2003 and going on to feature for Verona, Lazio, Fiorentina and Napoli.

He left Serie A for Hamburger SV in 2014 and arrived at Watford a year later.
