Gabriel Batistuta has revealed that he would like to join the Fiorentina board. “I’d like to represent them officially.”
Batistuta’s contribution to the Viola cause over the years was recognised on Sunday as thousands came out for the ‘Bati50’ event in Florence.
“I didn’t expect such a thing, even if Florence loves me,” the former Argentina striker, who recently turned 50, told reporters.

“I’ve been away for 20 years, but the love has always been there. I can’t explain how good it feels in words, I honestly can’t.
“I feel the responsibility of representing Florence around the world to a certain point. These displays of affection repay me in a big way.
“Becoming a director is something I’d like, but I represent Fiorentina around the world anyway. I know that behind my image comes Florence. I’d like to do it officially.”
