“This is a huge disappointment for me, the football movement and the people. The national team unites everyone, fans or not, of any team.

“The disappointment is huge, not just because we won’t go to the World Cup but we disappointed everyone who followed us tonight, whether at the stadium or in front of the TV.

“It’s difficult to talk about technical aspects at this time, but if we didn’t qualify it means we did something wrong.

“The young players? We have lads of quality who will have their own experiences. The national team will restart in the best way with players who are part of the group and new entries.

“Tonight we gave a huge blow to Italian football, but the movement will continue.”
