Much has been said about the condition of the field in Manaus, which appeared irregular, dry and even burnt.

“We are kept up to date on the state of the pitch and I am sure they’ll do everything possible to bring it up to standard,” said the Juventus” data-scaytid=”6″>Juventus defender in a Press conference.

“In any case, both Italy and England will have to play on the same surface.”

Rooney has come under criticism at home and some suggest he could be overshadowed by Daniel Sturridge.

“Rooney is an international player with great experience and quality, but England have three or four important forwards. They are fast, young and strong in the one-on-one.

“England certainly have a strong front line and we will have to be wary of that.”

Barzagli was asked whether the Nazionale will be able to break down the Three Lions defence.

“I hope so. We are preparing for that, they have a very tough defence, so it won’t be easy, but we tested out various things to make life difficult for them.

“It’s only normal we have to make certain movements and avoid high balls, as England are strong in the air, so we’ll keep the ball on the ground and play to feet.”
