Former Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli praised Paulo Dybala’s decision to leave the club and join Roma on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old Argentinian forward ended a seven-year association with the Bianconeri last summer, leaving after his contract expired. He signed a three-year deal with Jose Mourinho’s Roma, giving him the chance to be the leading man in a developing project in the Italian capital. Things have started well and Dybala has netted 10 goals across 16 appearances this campaign.
Speaking to DAZN, Barzagli touched on Dybala’s situation and his performance in Roma’s 2-0 loss to Fiorentina.
“Dybala did well to leave Juventus, he has been regenerated.”
The sentiment is seemingly shared by many Juventus fans, who have been left disappointed with the club after they failed to renew the 2022 World Cup winner’s deal.
Mourinho’s Roma currently sit 7th in the Serie A table after 18 games, tied on points with both Lazio and Atalanta. All three clubs are fighting for a top four finish, likely competing for one spot as Inter, Milan and Juventus all battle it out to catch up with league leaders Napoli.
The thing is, I don’t think it was Dybala’s choice..
