The French winger has been out of action for the Viola since late November, when he suffered a serious ankle injury against Lecce.

After performing surgery and missing most of the winter, the former Bayern Munich star is back in training and could reportedly be back on the pitch during this month.

But the CEO Barone has highlighted that Ribery doesn’t just have an impact on the pitch and has claimed that he has helped his side also off it.

“Franck has brought something extra to the team, particularly in the dressing room,” he told Tiki Taka. “He has also brought something to Serie A. We need the top players in the League.

“In Fiorentina today, we have young players and talent who are heritage of Italian football. [President Rocco] Commisso and I would like to see Italian players who can honour us in the national team. I speak of [Federico] Chiesa and [Gaetano] Castrovilli, but also other emerging players.”

After mentioning the young Italy international Federico Chiesa, he stayed on the topic.

“After the injury, Chiesa is having a great campaign and he’s playing as a striker after being born a winger,” he added. “He is the future of Fiorentina.”
