Bari defender Diego Polenta says his team are living a dream as they continue to chase a shock promotion to Serie A.

The Apulia side have been plagued by financial problems this season, having at one stage sought bankruptcy and risked falling off the footballing map.

On the pitch however, the team have continued to defy the odds and a sensational run of ten wins from their last 13 matches has propelled them into the play-off places, giving them genuine hope of an unthinkable promotion.

“At this moment we are more together than ever,” on-loan Polenta told Secolo XIX. “The intention at the start of the season was to stay up.

“Now we are sixth and in the fight to go up to Serie A. We are living a dream and it is to the credit of the fans, who have always supported us.

“My future? I belong to Genoa, if they want me to go back I will. I wouldn’t be sorry at all if that happened.”
