Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolò Barella are firm friends, so when the Croatian had the chance to score his first Champions League goal, the Italian played his part.

It was a well-worked move against Sheriff Tiraspol this evening, when Arturo Vidal laid it off for Brozovic on the edge of the area.

Brozo sent two defenders to ground with a dummy, shifting the ball from his left foot to the right.

He unleashed the shot, but Barella was in the way, so the Italian realised the situation and flung himself to the ground in order to free up the gap.

It worked, as Brozovic drilled into the near bottom corner for his first ever career Champions League goal at the 27th appearance.

Brozovic and Barella are very close friends off the pitch, as well as forming the Scudetto-winning midfield on it.

They often post videos on social media of their pranks and training ground games, with Brozovic using the motto: ‘Where are you, Bare?’
