Cagliari and Italy starlet Nicolo Barella has revealed the midfielder he most idolised growing up – ex-Lazio and Inter man Dejan Stankovic.
Inter are among the clubs Barella has been linked with this month, while Stankovic made over 300 appearances for the Nerazzurri between 2014 and 2013.
When asked who he most looked up to as a schoolboy, the 21-year-old replied: “Stankovic.
“I loved his determination as a child. I still remember his great goal from midfield.”
