Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly a prime transfer target for Barcelona, who scouted him against Liverpool.

The Senegal international was a rock in the 1-0 Champions League victory, completely neutralising Mohamed Salah and Bobby Firmino.

Liverpool didn’t get a single shot on target at the Stadio San Paolo and the performance of K2 particularly impressed Ariedo Braida.

The Barcelona director was in the stands for this game and, according to Spanish papers Sport and Mundo Deportivo, recommended they invest in Koulibaly.

Premier League sides have already tried to poach the centre-back, but were put off by the asking price of over €100m.

His former agent, Bruno Satin, confirmed he spoke to Braida about Koulibaly at the San Paolo on Wednesday.

“Kalidou can play for any team in the world, be it Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. He recently renewed his contract, but we’re seeing that Pique isn’t going through a good spell at Barcelona.”
