Lautaro Martinez wants to join Barcelona but the club will not pay €111m for the Inter striker, claims Mundo Deportivo.

Barca have long earmarked Martinez as Luis Suarez’s successor to their No 9 shirt, but Inter are not budging on their €111m valuation, which amounts to his release clause.

The newspaper explains how the Blaugrana know the Argentine’s desire well but also that the coronavirus pandemic has stopped them from splashing out.

Instead, MD claims the Nerazzurri would be prepared to take Arturo Vidal, Arthur, Carles Alena and Marc Cucurella in exchange for the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, Barca club member Jaume Roures – who once spearheaded a deal to buy Serie A TV rights in Italy – added to the rhetoric that the Catalans were facing financial meltdown.

“Bartomeu will leave behind a club full of debt,” Roures told ABC.

“You can’t do what you want and go home leaving behind a hole of €500m, €800m or €1bn.

“Barcelona have huge debts that the club is trying to hide, but they’re there. They have a short-term, non-repayable debt that the pandemic will worsen, given revenues will decrease.

“When the elections take place, us members will have to think about what’s best for the club, not only on a sporting level, but also on a financial and corporate one.

“As for the Neymar dream, there’s no money to buy him.”
