Marten de Roon has confessed that he is hoping Atalanta are drawn Real Madrid or Barcelona in the Champions League this season.
Atalanta are about to make their Champions League bow and have been drawn in Pot 4 of the draw for the group stage.
Nonetheless, De Roon made it clear his side were in it to test themselves against the two Spanish heavyweights.
“I’m glad we’ve reached the end of preseason,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m glad we’ve reached the end of preseason,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“It’s been tough, but it’s normal for that to be the case. I’m in my fourth season here, but this one will surely be the most beautiful as we’ll be playing in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. We hope to face Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“For now we’re not breathing a different kind of air, but once we hear the Champions League music, something will surely change.
“We’ve signed some good players who can play as starters: we have 15-16 this season, while last year we had 13-14.”
