Mario Balotelli admits “he should never have gone back to Milan” but insists he can win the Ballon d’Or “within two to three years”.

Balotelli scored just three goals in 23 appearances for Milan last season, having returned on loan from Liverpool, and the Nice new boy – who debuted over the weekend with a brace – believes he is on his way back to being mentioned among the world’s best players.

“I should never have gone back to Milan,” the striker told Canal+.

“I chose the Nice to smile again. In recent years, I’d lost the pleasure of playing, but now I feel good.

“I could’ve already won the Ballon d’Or, but if I train well then I can conquer it within two to three years.”
