Davide Ballardini warns Genoa they must focus on taking the initiative in Brescia despite more injury problems.

The Grifone have lost Kakha Kaladze due to a muscular problem, joining Chico, Giuseppe Sculli and the suspended Rafinha in the stands.

“We have Nenad Tomovic or Marco Rossi who can take over in defence. Unfortunately there are very few alternatives, but whoever plays has to focus on the principles of our approach,” said the tactician.

“We have Nenad Tomovic or Marco Rossi who can take over in defence. Unfortunately there are very few alternatives, but whoever plays has to focus on the principles of our approach,” said the tactician.

“That means keeping the team tight and moving as a unit, knowing when a teammate has the ball that this is how you should move and help the squad.

“I would love to have all the players at my disposal. We are forced into decisions by absentees and fitness problems. When we're all ready, then we will see.”

Brescia are in crisis with just two points from their last nine games, while they crashed out of the Coppa Italia in a 5-1 defeat to Catania on Thursday.

“We are facing a highly motivated side that is starved of points. At the start of the season they had picked up important victories and they have players of real quality.

“For example, Alessandro Diamanti, Eder, Andrea Caracciolo and Jonathan Zebina. It'll be a very difficult test and the important thing is to match their level of motivation.”
