Davide Ballardini declared himself ‘very satisfied’ after a winning start to his third Genoa tenure.

The Griffone were 1-0 victors at Crotone this afternoon, with Luca Rigoni’s early goal proving decisive in Calabria.

Asked for his thoughts on what was only Genoa’s second win of the season, Ballardini had little cause for complaint.

“Today, Genoa played a good match, especially in the first half,” the new Rossoblu Coach told reporters post-match.

Asked for his thoughts on what was only Genoa’s second win of the season, Ballardini had little cause for complaint.

“Today, Genoa played a good match, especially in the first half,” the new Rossoblu Coach told reporters post-match.

“In the second half we could have done better and been more aggressive. But there are also difficulties that the opposition give you.

“So it’s very good, I am very satisfied.”

Ballardini, who replaced the sacked Ivan Juric at the start of the international break, was asked whether today’s win means the ‘crisis’ at Genoa is over.

“The journey is very long, today all we have done is start well.

“The keys to doing well are the usual ones – the head, the heart, ideas and the quality of the players.”
