Genoa “did not deserve to lose and this is an unfair result,” insisted Davide Ballardini after the defeat to Napoli.

The Grifone held possession for long periods, but could not finish their chances and were beaten by a Marek Hamsik header.

“We did not deserve to lose and this is an unfair result,” moaned the Coach of the 1-0 defeat.

“Genoa put in a good performance, but Napoli deserve compliments, as winning games like this means you are a top side.”

Napoli ended the game with 10 men, but Genoa repeatedly complained to the referee.

“Was there a penalty on Luca Toni? He is certainly being held, but I don't think so,” confessed Ballardini.

“However, it was not a foul from Mimmo Criscito on Cristian Maggio for the free kick that led to the goal. There was also a Maggio handling offence in the box.”

Hamsik was allowed essentially a free header on Walter Gargano's set play for the winner.

“Miguel Veloso was meant to be marking Hamsik,” revealed the tactician.
